2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: The 89.1 innings Severino was on the mound for in the Bronx in 2023 was a far cry of his two best years. The mid-six ERA says about all we need to know as does the 2.32 HR/9 rate. The other thing that says it all is the 198.1 total innings he’s pitched the last three years combined. We’re a long way from him pitching 190+ IP, below-3.20 ERA, and 14+ win seasons with Severino mainly due a slew of injuries.

2024 Outlook: Severino is on a one-year deal with the Mets as a kind-of prove it deal. If he stays healthy there’s a shot at a mid-3.00s ERA with about a K/IP upside here but that’s a big if. The other big question is just how many innings will Severino be able to pitch after only logging 89 frames a year ago? That limits the upside too.
