Germán Márquez held the Braves to one run over five innings and struck out seven in a no-decision Friday.
The Rockies were actually up by three runs when Márquez left tonight, only to end up losing 12-4. Márquez now has a 3.54 ERA and a 27/6 K/BB over 28 innings in his last two starts. If he can maintain this, contenders will be after him at the deadline. He’ll face the Nationals next.
Germán Márquez allowed four runs over five innings to take a loss to the Mets on Saturday.
Márquez is now 2-8 on the season and has an ERA of exactly 7.00. He’s not a good pitcher, and he pitches for the worst team in baseball. Atlanta gets the pleasure of facing him next weekend.
Germán Márquez will start on Saturday against the Mets.
Márquez was originally slated to start on Sunday. It’ll be top prospect Chase Dollander taking the ball for Sunday’s series final at Coors Field instead of Tuesday’s series opener against the Giants. There’s very little fantasy fallout from the move besides Dollander ending up with a much tougher matchup and eliminating a potential two-start week for managers in deeper mixed leagues.
Germán Márquez was charged with four runs – three earned – over five innings on Monday in a win over the Marlins.
Márquez served up nine hits, including six doubles, but managed to keep the ball in the yard and avoid a potential meltdown. He struck out six and only issued a pair of walks. The 30-year-old righty is still prone to the occasional implosion, with Coors Field only amplifying the risk factor there, but he’s allowed three earned runs or fewer in four of his past six starts since May 4. He’ll bring an underwhelming 6.98 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 38/21 K/BB ratio across 58 innings (12 starts) into a home outing on Sunday against the Mets.
