Alex Bregman (quad) told reporters on Friday that he’s hopeful he’ll be able to return before the All-Star break.
The 31-year-old third baseman noted that an ultrasound on Wednesday showed that he was doing well and healing the way that the doctor’s wanted it to. The Red Sox don’t anticipate him being ready to return before the end of June, but a return before the All-Star break seems like a realistic expectation.
Alex Bregman (quad) is undergoing follow-up testing on Wednesday.
Bregman claimed earlier this month to be making lightning-quick progress in his recovery from a significant quad strain. There should be some additional clarity at some point later this week regarding the 31-year-old third baseman’s return timeline once he receives the results of the follow-up imaging.
Alex Bregman (quad) said his recovery from injury is going “at warp speed.”
Bregman still didn’t give a timeline for his return, but he said the process has been “10 times better” than he hoped. The only timeline anybody has had for Bregman’s return has been using his recovery from a similar injury in 2021, so there’s really no good sense of just how long he might be sidelined. The injury itself didn’t look significant on the field, but Red Sox manager Alex Cora called it a significant strain in the days afterwards. Hopefully another few days will give us a better sense of when Bregman will be back but the Red Sox and fantasy managers need him, so it’s nice to hear his recovery is going well.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Alex Bregman (quad) is responding well to treatment and “feeling better.”
We still don’t have a set timeline for Bregman’s return from a strained quad. The assumption is that he might miss six to eight weeks because he missed 58 games in 2021 with a similar injury, but it’s possible that he bounces back quicker this time, or the injury isn’t as severe. We’ll keep an eye on his recovery, but the fact that he is responding to treatment is a step in the right direction.
