Reds activated LHP Brent Suter from the bereavement list.
Suter will rejoin the Reds pen after three days away. Joe La Sorsa was sent down Thursday to open up a spot.
Reds placed LHP Brent Suter on the bereavement list.
Suter should be back this weekend. One of the game’s most underrated relievers, he has a 2.27 ERA in 31 2/3 innings this season.
Brent Suter tossed three scoreless innings in his spot start against the Guardians on Saturday.
Suter’s strikeout rate is at an all-time low — he’s fanned 14 of the 99 batters he’s faced — but he’s still been as effective as ever; his ERA stands at 1.82 through 24 2/3 innings. He figures to return to the pen now, as he hasn’t started consistently since 2018.
Reds signed LHP Brent Suter to a one-year, $2.25 million contract.
The deal also includes a $3 million option for the 2026 season. The Reds chose to go this route instead of simply exercising their $3.5 million option on the left-hander for the 2025 season. Suter was one of the most reliable options in the team’s bullpen during the 2024 campaign, compiling a 3.15 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and a 50/12 K/BB ratio over 65 2/3 innings while recording a pair of saves.
