2025 Player Outlook
Ozzie Albies worries me a lot more than the rest of the Braves going early in drafts. He has had a lot of difficulties staying healthy and even when on the field last season the results weren't great. He is still only 28 so he could easily get back to the elite production we have seen out him, but with so many question marks around the health and the performance I have a hard time drafting him at his current ADP when you have other solid second base options at this point in the draft.
Player News
Ozzie Albies homered, walked and drove in three runs on Thursday night as the Braves triumphed over the Phillies in the nightcap of their doubleheader.
Albies walloped a 345-foot (94.9 mph EV) two-run shot off of Zack Wheeler on a first-pitch splitter in the fourth inning that extended the Braves’ early lead to 4-0. He also drew a walk in the sixth inning and scored on a two-run single off the bat of Luke Williams. He also plated a run with a ground out in the ninth inning. On the season, the 28-year-old second baseman is slashing .241/.307/.361 with six homers, 22 RBI and five swipes in his first 55 ballgames.
Ozzie Albies went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and an RBI on Sunday as the Braves fell to the Padres.
Albies got the Braves on the board with a run-scoring double off of Dylan Cease in the second inning. He smacked another double off of the Padres’ right-hander in the fifth inning and scored on a wild pitch. The 28-year-old second baseman also worked a walk in the ballgame, reaching base safely in all three of his plate appearances. On the season, he’s now slashing .239/.299/.351 with five homers, 19 RBI and five stolen bases.
Ozzie Albies is batting seventh for the Braves on Monday, putting him in the bottom-third of the order for the first time since June 14, 2023.
Albies has mostly hit fifth and sixth this year, though there was a time in early April that he batted first and second for a week. He’s batting just .213/.270/.331, and he’s particularly struggling against lefties, which is very much against the norm for him. Michael Harris II has been moved up to the fifth spot tonight.
Ozzie Albies went 0-for-5 as the Braves’ leadoff man Friday against the Pirates.
Albies was hitting leadoff because Alex Verdugo was out of the lineup, though Albies still seemed like one of the Braves’ weakest options in that spot. He’s hitting .225/.285/.351 in 165 plate appearances this season, and he’s sporting the weakest exit-velocity numbers of his career.
