Ranger Suárez only allowed four hits and one walk en route to shutting the Blue Jays out over seven innings with six strikeouts in an 8-0 win on Friday.
Suárez was downright masterful here. Toronto didn’t have a runner reach scoring position until the seventh inning and barely any balls in play had the chance to do damage. His changeup was the star, forcing four swings-and-misses along with plenty of soft contact sitting on the low and away corner against this right-handed heavy Blue Jays lineup. Suárez looks a lot like the pitcher he did in the first half last season with a 2.32 ERA after another gem. He’ll look to keep his momentum going next time out against the Marlins.
Ranger Suárez allowed two runs with five strikeouts over seven innings in a loss against the Pirates on Saturday.
Suárez gave up a run in the first inning on a triple and a base hit. He got through five more scoreless frames before Henry Davis took him deep for a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the seventh. Suárez would complete the seventh with five strikeouts and in line for a tough-luck loss with just one run of support. The 29-year-old left-hander will carry an outstanding 2.70 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and a 38/11 K/BB ratio across 43 1/3 innings into a start against the Blue Jays in Philadelphia on Friday.
Ranger Suarez allowed two runs (one earned) in six innings and got a no-decision against the Brewers on Sunday.
Ranger Suárez blanked the Braves for six innings and struck out eight in a win Tuesday.
Orion Kerkering, Matt Strahm and Jordan Romano finished the five-hit shutout. Suárez has pitched at least six scoreless innings three times in five starts since coming off the injured list, and he’s currently 4-0 with a 2.97 ERA ahead of a start versus the Brewers.
