Ryan Yarbrough surrendered eight runs in four innings to take his first loss of the year Saturday against the Red Sox.

Yarbrough came into the night 3-0 with a 2.83 ERA in five starts and eight relief appearances, but his ERA sits at 4.17 after he gave up nine hits, including a homer, and two walks. He’s slated to face the Red Sox again next time out, but the Yankees might want to try something else then. Perhaps they could just use Yarbrough once around the order and then go to the pen.

Ryan Yarbrough was brilliant in Sunday night’s victory over the Dodgers, scattering four hits over six innings of one-run baseball.

The 33-year-old southpaw befuddled the Dodgers’ hitters throughout the night, racking up five strikeouts in the dominant performance. The only blemish on his night came on a solo homer off the bat of Tommy Edman in the second inning. Yarbrough racked up 17 whiffs on 93 pitches on the night — seven of those on his sweeper — while registering a CSW of 33 percent. Now 3-0 on the season, he’ll carry an impressive 2.83 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and a 40/11 K/BB ratio (41 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s divisional showdown against the Red Sox.

Ryan Yarbrough allowed just two hits and one run over six innings while striking out seven in a win over the Angels on Monday.

Yarbrough gave up a solo homer to Zach Neto to leadoff the game, and allowed just one more hit until his exit. He’s been impressive in his limited action as a starter, and he’s allowed just four runs over his four appearances and 20 innings in the month of May. It’s been impressive, but it would still be risky to use Yarbrough in fantasy leagues against the Dodgers on Sunday.

Ryan Yarbrough allowed three hits and one run with eight strikeouts and zero walks through five innings in a no-decision against the Rangers on Wednesday.

Yarbrough has been a pleasant surprise since joining the Yankees’ rotation and kept the good times rolling in this one. The only run he allowed – and the only time the Rangers had a player in scoring position – was on a Jake Burger solo home run. Otherwise, his cutter-changeup duo was lethal against the right-handed heavy Rangers’ lineup forcing nine combined swings-and-misses. His command of hat changeup was especially strong as he dotted it time after time low and away to those righties. He could be lined up for a two-start week against the Angles and Dodgers if he stays in the rotation during the Yankees’ upcoming west coast trip.
