Phillies signed RHP Wil Crowe to a minor league contract.
Crowe returns stateside after spending last year pitching in Korea for the Kia Tigers. The 30-year-old righty augments Philadelphia’s organizational pitching depth. He went from back-end starting pitcher to effective high-leverage specialist for the Pirates, making 91 appearances (26 starts) from 2021-2023.
Wil Crowe has signed a one-year, $600,000 contract with the Kia Tigers of the Korea Baseball Organization.
The deal also includes a $200,000 signing bonus and up to $200,000 in additional performance-based incentives. The 29-year-old righty was an effective high-leverage reliever for the Pirates prior to last year’s injury-marred campaign where he made just five appearances before landing on the injured list for good with right shoulder discomfort. He’ll aim to rebuild his long-term value overseas in Korea.
Pirates released RHP Wil Crowe.
Crowe made just five relief appearances this past season for the Pirates before landing on the injured list with right shoulder discomfort, which wound up ending his season. The 29-year-old righty has been an effective high-leverage option the last few years, so there’s a chance he’ll latch on somewhere this offseason as extra organizational depth.
Pirates sent RHP Wil Crowe outright to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Crowe had been designated for assignment last week, but he passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as excess bullpen depth at the Triple-A level. He’s in the final stages of recovery from right shoulder discomfort that has shelved him for the past two months.
