Jeffrey Springs allowed four runs — three earned — in 6 2/3 innings against the Twins on Wednesday.
Jeffrey Springs will make a bulk relief appearance on Wednesday against the Twins.
It’ll be reliever Justin Sterner taking the ball to open Wednesday’s contest against a right-handed stack of hitters atop Minnesota’s lineup. There isn’t much of a takeaway here for fantasy purposes, but the move should help prevent Springs from facing a couple challenging right-handed bats.
Jeffrey Springs allowed six runs and six walks in two-plus innings Friday against the Blue Jays.
Springs had never walked more than four batters in an outing before giving up six tonight. That’ll probably prove to be a fluke, but Springs’ career-worst strikeout rate and awful groundball rate are reasons to be concerned going forward. He’ll take a 5-4 record and a 4.72 ERA into his next start against the Twins. There isn’t any mixed-league value here at the moment.
Jeffrey Springs gave up four runs — three of them earned — while working six innings against the Phillies while not factoring into the decision Saturday.
Springs was given an extra day of rest, and it’s tough to say if it made a huge difference. He struck out six, but he allowed a pair of homers while issuing two walks and allowing four hits in total. It’s still a quality start, however, and one that slightly increases his ERA to 3.97. Springs will be back on the mound for the Athletics in Toronto on Thursday.
