Cal Quantrill struck out six while allowing four runs — three earned — over five innings and picking up a loss to the Pirates on Wednesday.
Cal Quantrill dropped to 3-6 after allowing two runs in five innings Wednesday against the Rockies.
Quantrill surely would have liked a win against the team that dropped him in the offseason, but this rates as another respectable outing. He finished April with an 8.10 ERA, but he’s at 3.25 in six starts since the beginning of May. He’ll face the Pirates next week.
Cal Quantrill allowed eight hits and two runs with one walk and a season-high seven strikeouts across five innings in a loss to the Giants on Friday.
Surprisingly, Quantrill had his swing-and-miss stuff working against the Giants. He’d only struck out at least five hitters in two of his 10 starts this season, but had the Giants diving at his splitter all night. He even got a bit unlucky on balls in play without giving up much hard contact despite his eight hits allowed. Relative to his season so far, this was a fantastic start. He has a nice matchup coming up next too against the Rockies at home.
Cal Quantrill went 3 1/3 innings and allowed one run against the Angels on Saturday.
Quantrill was pulled after throwing just 46 pitches, which is a little weird. he allowed three hits and no walks, and he was able to strike out two before exiting. This didn’t appear to be injury related, so maybe the Marlins just didn’t trust Quantrill and his 6.09 ERA to face the Angels lineup another time through the order. Huh. He’s scheduled to face the Giants on Friday.
