2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: Smith is one of the better offensive backstops in the league, and he's been as consistent as they come over the past three seasons. While playing in at least 126 games in each season, he's hit at least .258 with 19 home runs and 76 RBI in each of the last three seasons. From 2021-2023, Smith ranks top five at his position in home runs (56), runs scored (188), and RBI (204), all while slashing .256/.353/.452.

2024 Outlook: Smith did get 58 ABs out of the DH spot in 2023, and with Shohei Ohtani in the fold, unless they give Ohtani a day off, Smith will have to catch to get his ABs. While he may lose a couple of at-bats due to that, Smith still projects to be one of the best offensive options behind the dish, and the super team the Dodgers have assembled will pad his counting stats. He's a top five catcher this year, and a safe selection on draft day.
