Orioles’ interim manager Tony Mansolino told reporters on Friday that Ryan Mountcastle has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 right hamstring strain and is expected to be sidelined for 8-to-12 weeks.
Oof. Mansolino had said on Thursday that Mountcastle would be out “a while” and now we find out it’s going to be two or three months. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues without injured reserve spots should probably cut bait as that’s an awfully long time to wait for the production that Mountcastle could provide upon his return.
Orioles manager Tony Mansolino said Ryan Mountcastle (hamstring) is gonna “be a while.”
The Orioles received Mountcastle’s MRI results on Wednesday, and it was clearly not good news. Mansolino didn’t specify what “a while” means, but we’d expect at least a month, which could diminish any trade value that Mountcastle has. In the meantime, we’d expect Coby Mayo to take over essentially the same role. However, it’s the Orioles, so they might bring back Jordan Westburg as a DH and keep Ramon Urias in the lineup at third base.
Orioles placed 1B Ryan Mountcastle on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain.
Mountcastle hits the injured list after exiting Friday’s game against the White Sox with hamstring discomfort. No word on the severity. It’ll likely be Ryan O’Hearn taking over at first base in his absence. There should be a rough timeline at some point in the coming days.
Ryan Mountcastle was removed from Friday’s battle against the White Sox due to right hamstring discomfort.
It seems as though Mountcastle suffered the injury while stealing home on a double steal during the sixth inning. He’ll head for further evaluation to determine the extent of the injury. Expect the O’s to provide an update on his status as soon as more information becomes available.
