2025 Player Outlook

Yas slashed .231/.302/.437 and hit 18 home runs as the Giants primary RF in 2024. He signed a $9.25 million deal in his final year of arbitration before he enters unrestricted free agency for the first time next offseason. He should have the inside track to RF job again and will be motivated to produce a solid platform year entering free agency.

Mike Yastrzemski doubled and drove in three runs on Sunday afternoon as the Giants eked out a 4-3 victory over the visiting Braves.

Yastrzemski got the Giants on the board and evened the score at 1-1 in the second inning as he plated Matt Chapman with a sacrifice fly off of Spencer Strider. He then roped a two-run double to right off of Strider in the fourth inning that tied it at three runs apiece. The 34-year-old outfielder then raced around to score the go-ahead run on an error by second baseman Ozzie Albies. Yastrzemski finished the afternoon 1-for-2 and is now hitting .232/.329/.369 with five homers, 20 RBI and five stolen bases on the season.

Yastrzemski got off to a great start this year, but he last homered on Apr. 30 and is hitting .234/.322/.309 this month. Still, the Giants have a bunch of slumping hitters, and it’s unlikely that Yastrzemski’s struggles will cost him playing time.

Mike Yastrzemski is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Diamondbacks.

The Giants are loading up on right-handed hitters against southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez, so Yastrzemski will get a breather. Heliot Ramos is leading off, and Luis Matos will take Yastrzemski’s place in the lineup in left field.

Mike Yastrzemski went 2-for-5 and hit a walkoff homer in the bottom of the 10th as the Giants came back to beat the Reds 8-6 on Wednesday.

Cincinnati was up 6-1 at one point, but the Giants charged back to tie it in the eighth and then won it on Yastrzemski’s fifth career walkoff homer. He’s batting .344/.462/.594 through 10 games this season. That’s pretty good for someone the Giants were thinking about non-tendering over the winter. Yastrzemski stuck around by accepting a modest $1.35 million raise before the non-tender deadline.
