2025 Player Outlook
Wade basically has one skill, and that is getting on base at a very high clip. He finished last season with a 15.5 percent walk rate and a .380 OBP. Giants Manager Bob Melvin has stated he values OBP at the top of the order and Wade could see time in the leadoff spot this season. That would be a boon to his fantasy value as his plate appearances and run scoring opportunities would increase, but it is likely Wade still finds himself as the strong side of a platoon.
Player News
Angels acquired 1B/OF LaMonte Wade Jr. from the Giants for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
The 31-year-old was designated for assignment by the Giants on Wednesday so they were willing to flip him for anything that they could get at this stage. Wade will stay on the west coast and add a valuable and versatile left-handed bat to the Angels’ bench. He was hitting a meager .167/.275/.271 with one homer and 15 RBI in 169 plate appearances with the Giants.

LaMonte Wade Jr. was removed from Monday’s game against the Padres after being hit by a pitch.
Wade was hit on the hand by a 95-mph fastball from Padres starter Stephen Kolek in the second inning. He managed to remain in the contest initially, but was lifted for a defensive replacement in the ensuing frame. He’ll head for X-rays to determine whether he suffered any fractures. There should be an update on his status at some point.
