2025 Player Outlook
Edman was a league average bat who played above average defense at two premium positions (SS, CF) after coming over to the Dodgers at the trade deadline. An excellent post-season inspired the Dodgers to sign him to a five-year extension. He figures to be the regular center fielder in 2025 who can add some value in the stolen base department and should score plenty of runs if he can get on base enough.

Tommy Edman (ankle) went 1-for-4 in Friday’s shutout loss at the hands of the Cardinals.
Edman returned to Los Angeles’ lineup on Thursday after sitting out a pair of contests earlier this week after tweaking his right ankle. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern moving forward, but it’s a situation fantasy managers should continue monitoring.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Tommy Edman tweaked his right ankle a couple days ago.
It explains why Edman has missed two straight games this week, likely out of an abundance of caution. Roberts added that he’s day-to-day for now. It doesn’t sound like a massive concern, but speedy outfielder Esteury Ruiz, who has posted a solid .791 OPS with 16 extra-base hits and 27 stolen bases across 45 games this season for Triple-A Oklahoma City, is with the Dodgers on the taxi squad just in case.
Tommy Edman remains out of the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Mets.
It’s notable that Edman is absent from the lineup for the second consecutive contest despite the presence of right-hander Griffin Canning on the mound. The 30-year-old missed time last month with an ankle injury, so it’s a situation worth monitoring closely. Speedster Esteury Ruiz was spotted in the Dodgers clubhouse, so it’s possible there’s something going on here.
Tommy Edman is resting versus the White Sox on Monday, opening up second base for Hyeseong Kim.
It’s Kim’s first start since Edman was last off on Tuesday. Edman has started six of eight games since returning from an IL stay due to ankle inflammation.
