Jake Meyers went 4-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored in a loss to the Guardians on Sunday.
All of Meyers’ hits were singles, but this is what the 28-year-old does. He makes consistent contact and gets on base, and then steals bases when he does. He’s now hitting .302/.361/.412 on the season with 10 steals and needs to be on more fantasy rosters.
Jake Meyers went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and also stole a base on Monday, leading the Astros to a 4-3 victory over the Rays.
Meyers picked up his eighth stolen base of the season in the early stages of the contest before walloping a tie-breaking opposite-field solo shot — his third long ball of the season — off Rays reliever Manuel RodrÃguez in the seventh inning. The 28-year-old outfielder putting together a career year so far, hitting .301/.368/.426 with three homers and eight steals through 46 games.
Jake Meyers homered twice, tripled, doubled and drove in seven runs to power the Astros past the White Sox 8-3 on Saturday.
Amazing. Meyers came into the day with four extra-base hits — all doubles — and six RBI in 92 plate appearances this season. He raised his OPS an incredible 163 points (.617 to .780), which is tough to do five weeks into the season. Meyers’ struggles had prompted some talk about using Cam Smith in center, although that hasn’t happened yet. Meyers is easily the Astros’ best defensive outfielder, and so as long as his offensive numbers are at all respectable, it’s probably best that he remains in the lineup.
Jake Meyers went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored as the Astros fell to the Padres on Sunday evening in Houston.
Meyers led off the third inning with a single and advanced to third before he was ultimately stranded there. He then led off the fifth inning with a double off of Dylan Cease and scored the club’s first run on an RBI single off the bat of Mauricio Dubon. With his two-hit attack, the 28-year-old outfielder is now hitting .305/.354/.373 on the season with zero homers, five RBI and seven swipes.
