Kremer was coming off an excellent start against the White Sox on Saturday, but he was nowhere close to as effective in his follow-up start. He struck out just two while allowing eight hits; giving fantasy managers an idea of how little he fooled the A’s lineup during Friday’s affair. Kremer looked good for most of June, but this was a reminder of what can go wrong when you don’t have quality swing-and-miss stuff. He’s a volatile option at best against the Tigers on Thursday.

Kremer held the White Sox off the board until a double and a base hit brought a run in to score in the fifth. He’d toss one more scoreless frame, holding Chicago to just the one run over six while striking out seven batters. The 29-year-old right-hander will take a 4.70 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and a 51/18 K/BB ratio across 67 innings into a start against the Athletics in Sacramento on Friday.

Kremer allowed seven hits, but five of them were singles, and he posted a 28 percent whiff rate and 31 percent CSW on the day. In fact, the only pitch the Red Sox hit hard on Sunday was the curveball, which is Kremer’s least-used pitch. Kremer has a 5.02 ERA on the season, but makes for a solid streamer next week against the White Sox.

It’s basically identical to the outing he had against the Twins last time out. Kremer has given up at least four runs in six of his 10 starts while going 3-5 with a 5.50 ERA. Still, there isn’t going to be any pulling him from the Baltimore rotation any time soon. He’ll make his next start in Boston against the Red Sox.
