Peña led off the home half of the first inning with a single off of Chris Paddack and scored the game’s first run on a two-out, two-run single by Cam Smith. He then singled in the second inning and scored on a two-run double off the bat of Jose Altuve. Peña also doubled in the third inning and then delivered a run-scoring single in the eighth that extended the Astros’ lead to 10-2. He has been locked in at the dish this season, slashing .333/.386/.498 with nine homers, 34 RBI and 14 stolen bases.

The dynamic 27-year-old shortstop started the game by reaching on an infield single on the very first pitch. He then swiped second base but the Astros were unable to cash him in. Peña reached on a fielder’s choice in the fifth inning and scored the game’s first run on a two-out RBI single by Jose Altuve. With his three-hit attack, he’s now slashing a blistering .324/.382/.494 to go along with nine homers, 31 RBI and 12 stolen bases.

Peña led off the ballgame with a double off of Mitch Keller but he was ultimately left stranded at third base. He then chased Keller with an RBI double in the seventh inning that extended the Astros’ lead to 5-2. Peña then swiped third base before scoring on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jose Altuve. Peña also legged out a two-out infield single in the ninth and rode home on a two-run blast by Isaac Paredes. He has done a phenomenal job atop the Astros’ lineup this season, slashing .318/.378/.492 with nine homers, 31 RBI and 11 stolen bases in what has been an All-Star caliber campaign.
