Pinto went unclaimed after being designated for assignment. The 28-year-old is organizational fodder at this stage in his career.

Arizona is going with José Herrera as starter Gabriel Moreno’s caddy to open the regular season. Pinto was claimed off waivers back in January from the Orioles. He should be able to latch on somewhere else as extra organizational catching depth.
