Between the hamstring injury that sidelined him for the final three games of the first round and his inconsistent production when available, this was a disappointing postseason for Holiday. Friday’s performance was his worst, with the veteran guard shooting 12.5 percent from the field. Unfortunately, Holiday’s 2024-25 season was underwhelming regarding fantasy value, as he finished outside the top-100 for the first time since his rookie season (2009-10). Holiday’s fantasy prospects next season will be impacted by Jayson Tatum (Achilles) likely missing a significant amount of time, but that may also mean an expanded role for Payton Pritchard. Pritchard finished Friday’s loss with 11 points, two rebounds, four assists and one three-pointer in 28 minutes.

Holiday fully participated in Saturday’s practice after missing the final three games of the Celtics’ first-round series against the Magic. He’s absent from the injury report for Monday, so Boston will have its full rotation available to begin the second round. Due to Holiday’s return, Al Horford will come off the bench.

When asked about Holiday’s recovery, head coach Joe Mazzulla said, “He was able to do everything that we worked on. He’s getting better everyday.” Al Horford has been starting in place of Holiday and will likely remain in that role for Game 1 against the Knicks on Monday if Holiday remains out. The injury report should provide a clearer update on Holiday, but this is a positive development for his chances of returning after missing Games 3-5 against the Magic.
