Keifer Sykes
Player News
The Pacers are waiving Keifer Sykes, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Sykes appeared in 32 games, making 11 starts for the Pacers this season. Sykes played 17.7 minutes per game and averaged 5.6 points per game with 1.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. He might get an opportunity next season with another NBA team, but he will not be a fantasy target.
Kiefer Sykes will get the spot start on Monday vs. the Hawks.
Sykes is one of eight Indiana players available tonight, so he should get some solid run, and he'll be joined in the first unit by Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield, Justin Anderson and Goga Bitadze.
Kiefer Sykes didn't do much through 25 minutes as a starter on Sunday, scoring seven points on 2-of-9 shooting (2-of-3 FT) to go with five rebounds, three assists, one 3-pointer, one block and one turnover in a loss to the Cavs.
Sykes got the spot-start today with Caris LeVert (traded) unavailable, but he wasn't all that impressive. He’s been hit-or-miss as a starter this season, and there are no guarantees he’ll stick in the first unit for Tuesday’s game against the Hawks, so he’s safe to leave on the waiver wire in most leagues.
Keifer Sykes will start Thursday's matchup with the Warriors alongside Chris Duarte, Justin Holiday, Torrey Craig and Goga Bitadze.
With Malcolm Brogdon out of action, Sykes will shift back to the starting lineup. In six prior starts, he averaged 12.0 points, 3.8 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.7 triples. Expect Bitadze and Craig to be busy with Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner also sidelined.
