Commanders released C Tyler Larsen.
Larsen was re-signed by the Commanders earlier this offseason but was outperformed by rookie third-rounder Ricky Stromberg in camp. A well-documented injury history also worked against Larsen, but it’s possible he returns to the practice squad if he clears waivers.
The Athletic's Ben Standig reports Commanders C Tyler Larsen suffered a dislocated kneecap in Sunday's Week 13 matchup against the Giants.
It's possible this will turn into a season-ending injury for Larsen, who saw his 2021 cut short with an Achilles injury. Larsen has played in eight games this season and provided a much-needed boost to a struggling offensive line after missing all of September. Nick Martin is expected to take over for center during Larsen's absence.
Commanders C Tyler Larsen was spotted with crutches and a leg brace after suffering a right leg injury in Sunday's Week 13 contest against the Giants.
We're still waiting for a more definite update on Larsen's status, but it doesn't sound like we'll be seeing much of him in the coming weeks. Larsen was carted off the field in the fourth quarter after having his leg rolled up on. He has appeared in eight games for the Commanders after missing the first month of the season while recovering from an Achilles injury suffered in 2021. If he's to miss any time, Nick Martin is most likely to take over as the starting center.
Commanders C Tyler Larsen exited Week 13 against the Giants and was carted to the locker room.
Larsen appeared to have had his leg rolled up on by a defender while falling to the ground. With the injury occurring so late in the game, it's unlikely we'll know anything on his status until after the game. Nick Martin came on to replace Larsen.
