Well this changes everything, as he now has a chance to make an impact on special teams and maybe even in dime packages going forward.

Nothing to see here, as practice squad moves are rarely impactful this late in the season. Expect him to work his way onto the roster during the offseason and training camp.

Owens made three starts for the Chiefs last season. Presumably there was an injury settlement to be able to cut Owens off IR.

After seeing quite a bit of time on the field for Kansas City's secondary last year, Detroit signed him as depth but he was not expected to get very much if any on field work with the Lions. The 28-year-old veteran will likely be cut with a settlement and try and catch on somewhere else next season when he is fully healthy.
