Free agent OT Aviante Collins visited the Steelers.
27-year-old Collins spent this season on the Vikings' practice squad. He hasn't appeared in a game since 2019. Collins would add depth on a reserve/future contract with multiple tackles set to become free agents for the Steelers.
The Vikings signed Collins to the active roster from the practice squad Thursday.
Collins' spot on the 53-man roster comes following the placement of Brett Jones (knee) on injured reserve. The third-year pro spent the first 10 weeks of the season on Minnesota's practice squad, and he now projects to play a depth role along the offensive line.
Coach Mike Zimmer said Monday that Collins (leg) will be back at practice but did not provide a timetable, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Collins was carted off the field during practice last week, and while the nature of his injury remains undisclosed it doesn't appear to be particularly severe. When healthy, Collins projects to serve as a depth guard in Minnesota.
Collins (bicep) said Monday that he is fully recovered, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Collins underwent season-ending surgery back in September on a torn bicep, but he has made a full recovery after roughly eight months of rehab.
