Wynn opened the season on the PUP list but is finally ready to make his return. The veteran guard has played in just 16 games over the last two seasons and started all seven games he appeared in at left guard last season. He’s expected to resume his role as the team’s starting guard and could be on the field as early as this Thursday against the Packers.

Wynn is working through a quad injury that has sidelined him throughout camp. The veteran tackle has dealt with injuries the last two seasons, appearing in just 16 of a possible 34 games. Wynn will not be eligible to return until Week 5, putting Austin Jackson in line to start at right tackle out of the gate.

Wynn landed on injured reserve after suffering a Week 7 quadriceps strain and he has evidently yet to fully recover. The Dolphins are smartly playing things cautiously with their shallow offensive line depth. EDGE Cameron Goode was also moved to the PUP list while running back Salvon Ahmed was sent to the active/non-football injury (NFI) list. Players who remain on the active/PUP list come Week 1 must remain sidelined for at least four games.

Wynn started seven games for the Dolphins last season before landing on injured reserve following a Week 7 loss to the Eagles. In the seven games he played in, Wynn earned a PFF blocking grade of 47.8. While he didn’t allow any sacks on 224 pass block attempts, he graded poorly as a run blocker and has shown a decline as a run blocker in each of his last two seasons. He could get another chance to bounce back in 2024, but with injuries slowing him in back-to-back seasons, it’s possible he’s on the downturn of his career.
