49ers signed LB Fred Warner to a three-year, $63 million contract extension.
The Niners continue to take care of their own, inking Warner to a deal that will make him the league’s highest-paid linebacker while giving him $56.7 million in guaranteed money. Warner, 28, totaled 131 tackles five TFLs, and two interceptions last season while on his way to earning his third-straight First-Team All-Pro honors. Warner’s new deal will keep him with the 49ers through the 2029 season, which could put him in line for another big deal if he continues to play at a high level.
49ers LB Fred Warner said he has been playing through a fractured ankle.
Warner sustained the injury against the Patriots in Week 4, and has played through it ever since because “it’s the NFL and you’re not going to be healthy.” Fair enough, Fred. We still have to point out that should the 49ers season go south and they fumble out of playoff contention, there is a chance that they’d shut Warner down for the rest of the year.
49ers LB Fred Warner (ankle) was removed from the injury report and will play in Week 6 against the Seahawks.
Warner played through the ankle injury in Week 5 and escaped without any further complications. The three-time All-Pro totaled 12 tackles and a TFL versus Arizona while playing every snap, per usual. He is good to go for the 49ers’ Thursday Night Football bout with Seattle.
49ers LB Fred Warner (ankle) was a limited participant in Tuesday’s walk-through practice.
Warner has been dealing with an ankle injury he suffered in Week 4. With just one limited practice last week, he still played in Week 5. Now beginning the week listed as limited in Monday’s practice estimation and Tuesday’s walk-through, Warner looks like he will play Week 6. Among the rest of the 49ers defense, DT Jordan Elliott (knee) and LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (calf) did not practice while S Ji’Ayir Brown (ankle) and CB Charvarius Ward (knee) were limited. Talanoa Hufanga (wrist) is going to miss at least a few weeks, so Warner’s role in the middle of the defense will be greater Thursday against the Seahawks.
