Jaguars agreed to terms with OL Patrick Mekari, formerly of the Ravens, on a three-year, $37.5 million contract.
The deal includes $20 million guaranteed. Capable of playing all five spots on the line in a pinch, Mekari began last season at right tackle before seeing the majority of his time at left guard. An every-week starter for the first time in his six-year career, Mekari handled 998 snaps. He will presumably be stashed at guard in Jacksonville, but his versatility is undoubtedly one of the drivers of his surprisingly lucrative deal. The Jags have been by far the most active team of Day 1 of free agency.
Ravens OL Patrick Mekari (ankle) is doubtful for Week 4 against the Bills.
Mekari suffered the injury against the Patriots last Sunday. Coach John Harbaugh said Mekari was "going to be fine" following the game, but the lineman did not practice all week and almost certainly will sit out. The good news is LT Ronnie Stanley (ankle) appears to have a real shot to play.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said OL Patrick Mekari (ankle) "is going to be fine" after exiting Sunday's Week 3 matchup against the Patriots.
Already thin along the offensive line, the Ravens could ill-afford to lose Mekari, who was starting at left tackle with Ronnie Stanley (ankle) being held out. Harbaugh did acknowledge that Mekari did suffer an ankle sprain, but didn't say how that would affect his Week 4 status. We'll know more about Mekari's status against the Bills when the team releases its injury report later in the week.
Ravens OL Patrick Mekari suffered an ankle injury in Week 3 against the Patriots and will not return.
After walking off the field, Mekari was carted to the locker room and did not return. Mekari was filling in at left tackle with Ronnie Stanley (ankle) sidelined for the third-straight week and was replaced by rookie Daniel Faalele. Faalele has struggled on the day, allowing Patriots defensive end Deatrich Wise to pressure Lamar Jackson for much of the afternoon.
