Colorado remains an option for unrestricted free agent Nazem Kadri.

Kadri is still looking for the right fit for himself, but it sounds like a return to the Avalanche could still be an option. "We stay in touch with Naz's camp," said Colorado GM Chris MacFarland on Thursday. "Right now they're doing their thing and we'll continue to monitor it." As expected, Kadri has been attracting plenty of interest on the open market.

Nazem Kadri and the Colorado Avalanche are reportedly still talking even as the UFA period looms.

At this point, it seems likely Kadri will test the market, but perhaps he'll ultimately circle back to Colorado. Kadri had 28 goals and 87 points in 71 regular season games and then played a big role in the Avalanche's championship-winning playoff run, so naturally there's going to be a ton of interest in him. He'll be one of the most exciting players to watch today.

Nazem Kadri is eligible for unrestricted free agency, but he hopes to re-sign with the Colorado Avalanche.

Kadri mentioned that his first choice would be to return to the Avalanche when he appeared on the Real Kyper and Bourne Show. "How could it not be? The Kroenke's have been great supporters of mine and made it clear to me that they'd like me to stay also but we understand that there's a business aspect involved," said Kadri. "We're going to try to work together." He added, "I've shown what my worth is and I'm just looking forward to watching this all develop." If he prices himself out of Colorado's range then Kadri should attract plenty of interest from other teams.

Nazem Kadri had to freeze his injured thumb in order to play in Games 4, 5 and 6 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Kadri was the heart of the Avalanche as he broke his thumb in Game 3 of the Western Conference Final and needed surgery to repair it, forcing him to miss Game 4 against Edmonton as well as the first three games of the Stanley Cup Final. Kadri returned for Game 4 and scored the overtime winner although he had no power in his injured hand as he needed a special glove for protection. “It was terrible. Terrible. I felt it every single shift, and it was tough,” Kadri said. “I turned a six-week (recovery) timeline into two weeks. Great medical staff helped me along the way. I couldn't even tie my skates before the game. I had the medical trainer tie my skates before every game. So, what a war. But nothing was going to stop me from being out here.” That's a champion!
