Noah Cates

Cates picked up an assist on a goal by Morgan Frost in the first period before scoring in the second stanza and adding other during a Philadelphia power play in the third. He has accounted for five goals and nine points in 13 games since joining the Flyers in late March from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. 

Cates had a hand in each of his team's first two goals, dishing out an assist on Kevin Hayes' first period goal before putting in one of his own on Dustin Tokarski in the second period. The 23-year-old forward has tallied three goals and five points in 10 games this season -- his first 10 games in the NHL. Respectable work for the youngster as the Flyers play out the string on the 2021-22 campaign.

Cates, a fifth-round pick in the 2017 draft, made his NHL debut at the end of March but had yet to post a point in three games coming into Tuesday's showdown with the Blue Jackets. He has pro goal No. 1 out of the way, now, after scoring against Elvis Merzlikins as time was winding down in the first period. There is no fantasy upside for the stretch run, here, but nice to see the 23-year-old forward on the board in his cup of coffee with the Flyers.

The Flyers signed Cates to a two-year contract on Sunday after he scored 11 goals and 24 points in 37 NCAA games this season. He recorded three shots and three hits in 14:52 minutes of ice time in his NHL debut on Tuesday. The game didn't go well for the Flyers though, who lost 4-1 to Minnesota.
