Welcome to the DFS Dart Board for NFL Week 2!

If you're new to Fantasy Alarm/DFS Alarm, the Dart Board is an add-on to the Playbook that I started three or four seasons ago. It came about when I was building GPP lineups and realized I needed more salary relief. As I dug through my notes to see who stood out the most among those players at a more affordable price, it hit me. When I put players in the Playbook, I am thinking primarily about cash lineup plays -- guys with a high floor who I could conceivably put into my core-group and build a lineup around. After those players, I would mix in a handful of guys who had boatloads of upside and were in soft match-ups, but I wasn’t paying as much attention to their salary as I should have. And that's where the Dart Board came into play.

Every now and then, when building lineups while using particular stacks, you need some salary relief. You need a guy who may not be minimally priced, but low enough to give you the flexibility you need to get someone like Dalvin Cook or DK Metcalf in as a flex play or something. Occasionally you may see a min-priced QB or TE in here, but more often than not, this space is reserved for running backs and wide receivers who are $5,500 and lower on FanDuel or like $5,000 or lower on Draft Kings.

Now while we call this a Dart Board, keep in mind that every player has been carefully researched. We're not up here picking players all willy-nilly, desperately hoping they hit. We're looking for the cheapest bargains possible who still have the strongest potential to give you at least a 3-5x return on what you pay.

All set? Great. Let's take a look at who we've got this week...

RBChase EdmondsATL @ TB Sun 4:0549006000

Not exactly a bargain on FanDuel or Yahoo, but priced down on DK definitely gives Edmonds some juice here with the full-point PPR format. The split between him and James Conner for snaps was pretty close to even though Edmonds did have a slight edge. But Conner saw a few more carries. But we're looking at Edmonds for his pass-catching as he was targeted four times and caught all four passes. In this Air Raid offensive scheme, we should see Edmonds on the field more and with the limited pass-rush for the Vikings this week, maybe we see a few more check-downs while Kyler Murray hangs out in the pocket longer.

RBNyheim HinesHOU @ CLE Sun 1:0047005100

This is more dependent on what happens with the rest of the Colts offensive weapons. Both Michael Pittman and Parris Campbell showed up on the injury report late in the week and both are questionable for this game against the Rams. If they are out, the Colts could mix Hines in a lot more as a potential slot-receiver, or even just an add-on safety valve coming out of the backfield.

WRZach PascalNYG @ WAS Thu 8:2044005100

This one actually goes in reverse of what we just said about Hines. For Pascal to hit, we want both Pittman and Campbell on the field. If not, then Jalen Ramsey will stick to Pascal as the only legit receiving threat and that doesn't exactly bode well for DFS purposes. If they are in, then use Pascal. If they are out, pivot to Hines. Easy peasy!

WRAnthony SchwartzBUF @ MIA Sun 1:0033004800

He does carry a questionable tag into this week, but if Schwartz plays, he could be a very intriguing option with Odell Beckham sidelined for a second-straight week. Schwartz has the speed to stretch the field and serve as a major downfield threat and complementary receiv3r to the always-reliable Jarvis Landry. If Schwartz is out, pivot to either Rashard Higgins or Donovan Peoples-Jones, both of whom are cheap plays as well.

WRCedrick WilsonNO @ CAR Sun 1:0031004900

If we're expecting a shootout in this game, then taking a look at Wilson for GPP tournaments is a must, especially if you want to stack Dallas and save a few bucks for some other plays. He'll work on the outside in three-receiver sets for the most part, so after the Chargers float some extra coverage over to CeeDee Lamb in the slot, Wilson should see some beatable one-on-one match-ups. Nice, cheap play here.

TEJames O'ShaughnessyMIN @ ARI Sun 4:0527004400

Having worked with Andrew Cooper, I have learned that when he offers you a “Bonus Dart-Throw” in the TE Coach, you take it. If you missed it, here's what he had to say: I’m not quite sure what Urban Meyer is doing.  But he strangely gave James O’Shaughnessy essentially IDEAL deployment in week 1.  O'Shaughnessy lined up at WR 32 times which was top five for tight ends and tied with Logan Thomas.  He didn’t pass block one time.  And he got six targets.  Whether that holds, I don’t know.  But I do know he’s pretty much free on both Yahoo and DraftKings if you just need a bottom tier priced guy to throw in there to make the lineup work.”
