DFS Position Coaches: QB | RB | WR | TE | D/ST

Top Tier

Tom Brady, TB - Sure, Brady may be missing both Chris Godwin and now Antonio Brown but he still has Mike Evans and Rob Gronkowski at his disposal in this Wild Card round matchup against the Eagles. Brady is home for this contest which is where he thrived during the regular season, throwing 25 touchdowns over the eight home games. Brady faced the Eagles in Philadelphia earlier this season and completed 81% of his passes for 297 yards and two touchdowns. The Eagles are among the worst teams in the NFL against opposing tight ends so it would certainly make sense to see he and Gronk hook up this weekend.

Patrick Mahomes, KC - Mahomes flipped the switch over the final few games of the season, throwing 10 touchdowns with just one interception over the final four games. The Steelers defense has ranked among the worst in football all season long despite the fact they have the single season sack leader in T.J. Watt on their side. I look for Mahomes to do what he does best come playoff time and that is spin magic and put up plenty of points.

Mid-Tier

Joe Burrow, CIN - Burrow faces a Raiders defense that was shredded by Justin Herbert in the final week of the season and they were lucky to get out with a victory. Currently the Raiders defense ranks 21st in DVOA against the pass and will now run up against a Bengals passing attack that has exploded of late with Burrow totaling 736 yards and six touchdowns over his final two games of the season. Both Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are legit receiving threats as is the often forgotten about Tyler Boyd which will be a handful for the Raiders secondary to deal with this weekend.

Dak Prescott, DAL - What many are figuring will be the most contested game of the weekend, Prescott enters this matchup against the 49ers in good form having thrown 12 touchdowns over the final three weeks of the season with zero interceptions. The 49ers defense has been solid this season but I give the edge to Dak here at home given his current form.

Value Tier

Jimmy Garoppolo, SF - The 49ers are going to try and control this game on the ground but I see the Cowboys forcing them into a shootout and that puts the ceiling in play for Jimmy G who lead a game winning drive against the Rams last week. Over the last two weeks of the season Garoppolo completed over 70% of his passes while eclipsing the 300-yard mark in both games. If he could just limit the turnovers we could see 4x return on his price point this weekend.

Ben Roethlisberger, PIT - To quote the song by Toby Keith - “I ain't as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was.” - In what everyone expects to be the final season for Big Ben it would be quite poetic for him to make one last run at a Super Bowl title. Vegas has the Steelers as the biggest underdog on the board and it has not been a good year for Roethlisberger and the Steelers offense but he has openly talked this week about nobody giving them a chance and that because of those expectations he has told the locker room to go out, have fun and see what happens. The Steelers also designated JuJu Smith-Schuster to return from IR and is expected to play this weekend as well which adds another viable option to the Steelers passing attack. Who knows, maybe he pulls it off?

Fades

Josh Allen, BUF - The Bills and Patriots will meet for the third time this season and the game this Saturday night will make for some uncomfortable football with windchills reaching negative degrees. This is the type of game environment that makes it tough to throw the football and Josh Allen this week admitted he has some circulation issues with his hands in the cold. Earlier this year in Buffalo, in a game that was cold and windy, the Patriots pulled off the upset by running the football all over the Bills defense .This game is setting up to be another run heavy affair.
