Jorge Soler (groin) is not in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Mariners.
Soler will sit out Sunday’s series finale after aggravating a lingering groin issue during Saturday’s contest. The 33-year-old veteran slugger might be able to avoid a trip to the injured list, but he’s going to get some extra time off to put the issue to bed. It’ll be super-utility specialist Chris Taylor taking over in right field on Sunday afternoon.
Cal Raleigh is not in the lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Angels.
It’s a well-earned break for Raleigh, who launched two more round-trippers on Friday night to extend his major league-leading total to 26 home runs through 63 games. The 28-year-old slugging backstop is on pace to easily eclipse the 40-homer mark for the first time in his career. It’ll be Mitch Garver handling the catching duties on Sunday afternoon in his place.
Julio RodrÃguez (ankle) is in the lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Angels.
RodrÃguez, who is back in center field and batting second on Sunday afternoon at T-Mobile Park, managed to avoid serious injury after being struck on the right ankle during Saturday’s contest by a 98-mph one-hopper off the bat of teammate Randy Arozarena while attempting to steal third base. The 24-year-old superstar outfielder underwent precautionary X-rays that came back negative for any fractures. It doesn’t appear that he’s going to miss any time moving forward, which is a relief for fantasy managers.
White Sox signed LHP Tyler Anderson to a one-year, $760,000 contract.
Alexander heads to the Windy City ahead of Sunday’s game against the Royals to provide a rebuilding Chicago club with an experienced left-handed swingman option. He ended up on the free agent wire earlier this week shortly after being removed from Milwaukee’s roster. The 30-year-old southpaw has recorded a pedestrian 6.19 ERA across 36 1/3 innings (21 appearances, four starts) this season in the big leagues.
White Sox placed LHP Jared Shuster on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 5, with a blister.
Shuster heads to the shelf after compiling an underwhelming 8.04 ERA across 15 2/3 innings (12 appearances, two starts) in a long relief role for Chicago. He’ll likely be back in a couple weeks.
White Sox transferred LHP Fraser Ellard to the 60-day injured list.
The procedural move frees up a spot on Chicago’s 40-man roster for veteran southpaw Tyler Anderson. Ellard hit the injured list back in early May with a lat strain. There is not timetable for his return.
