Quick Pitch MLB DFS Podcast: Oneil Cruz Top MLB DFS Value Play & Angels DFS Stack

Published: Jun 21, 2022
We have a 13-game MLB DFS main slate on Tuesday, June 21st on DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo! Fantasy. We don't have the deepest list of MLB DFS pitchers on this slate, but the position is headlined by Nestor Cortes, Kevin Gausman, and Dylan Cease. Some of the top MLB DFS value pitchers we talk about include Roansy Contreras and Marco Gonzales. When we flip it over to the offensive side of things, Oneil Cruz at minimum salary is where we start and then move on. Where do we go you ask? Well, how about to MLB DFS stacks with teams like the Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, and Atlanta Braves. We don't have any bad weather, but we have multiple spots for 90+ degree weather, which means the ball could be carrying tonight. That shows in some of these over/unders considering they're higher than normal. Be sure to keep tabs on our MLB Weather Center to find out more as we approach roster lock. Another great tool as we get teams posting their lineups is our MLB Lineups page to find out who's in and who's not. Our MLB DFS Player Projections, powered by FanJections, are set for today's slate and on these days, we find using the Fantasy Baseball Lineup Generator to be a great tool to help build different types of roster construction.

Tigers placed RHP Jason Foley on the 60-day injured list.
Foley will receive major-league service time while recovering from last month’s season-ending shoulder surgery. The 29-year-old former closer suffered the injury while pitching for Triple-A Toledo and is unlikely to return until the second half of next year.
Tigers optioned RHP Dylan Smith to Triple-A Toledo.
Smith is the corresponding move to get Sawyer Gipson-Long back onto Detroit’s active roster for Wednesday’s game against the White Sox. The 25-year-old rookie allowed two runs over three innings in a pair of relief appearances for the Tigers after being called up last Friday from Triple-A Toledo.
Jacob Wilson (neck) is back in the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Twins.
Wilson is back at shortstop and hitting second following a one-game absence due to a minor neck issue. The 23-year-old rookie sensation has emerged as the early-season favorite for AL Rookie of the Year honors, hitting .355/.393/.504 with seven homers, 32 RBI and five stolen bases through 58 games.
Kerry Carpenter has been scratched from Wednesday’s lineup with right hamstring tightness.
Hamstring issues are never what fantasy managers want to hear, especially since Carpenter has dealt with them in the past. The hope is that his absence is merely for precautionary reasons to prevent the issue from becoming a more serious matter. There should be some clarity on his status following Wednesday’s showdown in Chicago at Rate Field. Stay tuned.
Ben Lively underwent Tommy John surgery with a right flexor tendon repair on Wednesday and is expected to miss 12-14 months.
Lively won’t potentially return to Cleveland’s rotation until the second half of next season and there’s a chance he won’t make it back until the 2027 campaign. He would be 35 years old at that point. He suffered the right elbow injury back on May 12 and was transferred to the 60-day injured list last week.
Pirates INF/OF Nick Solak has elected free agency.
Solak will search for a new opportunity on the open market instead of accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Indianapolis. The versatile 30-year-old former second-round pick has achieved journeyman status in recent years. His stint with the Pirates lasted just four games where he went 1-for-11 at the plate.
