It’s a monster slate of 15 games tonight and even with the trade deadline coming up this afternoon, there’s plenty to dive into just with this slate. There are no weather issues on the slate. Also for the first time since September of 2019, the Toronto Blue Jays are playing at the Rogers Centre tonight, so expect a lot of emotion and hype for their team as they try and put on a winning show for their true home fans.

Top Tier

Lance Lynn, RHP CWS - What’s better than a 1.91 ERA? A 1.50 ERA. That’s Lynn’s home ERA this season with two-thirds of his innings coming in Chicago. A BAA of .168 also shows he’s been very hard to get hits off of as well. Cleveland just lost their manager for the rest of the year as Terry Francona steps away for health reasons and that can’t help a team that’s been scuffling since the All-Star break with a nearly 28-percent K-rate, .217 AVG, .273 wOBA, and 68 wRC+. Lynn has been getting by Cleveland previously, but this sets up to be another good Lynn outing.

Corbin Burnes, RHP MIL - Look Burnes has been a Cy Young candidate all season and that certainly hasn’t changed since the All-Star break. Believe it or not, he’s actually been better on the road this year in terms of ERA, WHIP, BAA, average fantasy points, and has a K:BB ratio that’s nearly twice as good on the road as at home (11.8 to 6.6). Atlanta has been a different offense since losing Ronald Acuña Jr.. He’s pricey but there’s a reason for it.

Chris Bassitt, RHP OAK - While the two guys listed above might get more of the attention, Bassitt may have the best match-up among these three. He’s a huge part of the reason the A’s are buyers at the deadline and he’s facing the Angels, a team he’s faced twice already this year with two great starts. Bassitt has allowed two total earned runs in 16.2 innings against LA with a .123 BAA. If we want to be a bit different, Bassitt is the top-tier guy to do just that.

Mid-Tier

Logan Gilbert, RHP SEA - Gilbert has been on a roll recently and now gets a Gallo-less Rangers’ lineup that’s already been struggling against RHPs even with Gallo. We know that Texas is a pitcher-friendly ballpark and that’s before we factor in that Gilbert has a 2.35 ERA and 0.96 WHIP and .185 BAA on the road. Expect a decent amount of strikeout upside in this match-up with the Rangers striking out about 27-percent of the time recently.

Touki Toussaint, RHP ATL - Toussaint has been great since returning for the Braves and posted 10 Ks his last start out. The Brewers have only been middle of the road against RHPs to start the second half and without Yelich in the lineup, it’s less threatening. Going against top flight pitchers sometimes boosts guys' stuff as they try and compete pitch-for-pitch with those top flight arms and that could happen here for Toussaint going against Corbin Burns.

Value Tier

Trevor Williams, RHP CHC - We all know what the Nationals have done since Thursday and what’s left, or what’s not left, on their roster. Williams has been up and down this year and is coming off a good outing last time on the mound. Why not take a shot that he can have another good one against essentially a Triple-A roster at this point without their key bats aside from Juan Soto left.
