Happy Labor Day Weekend #Family this means you will probably have less competition in your MLB DFS contests as people are likely busy doing other things and aren’t as focused on fantasy baseball. That is just good news for us as we can really take this opportunity to cash in. There are a number of solid pitchers on the slate, but I’m not sure there is anyone that you really have to avoid! There are many options on this eight-game slate so no matter what salary level you are looking for we got you covered!

Top Tier

Paul Goldschmidt, 1B, STL – His season numbers might be a bit off, but Goldy is hitting .349 with six home runs and 13 RBI in the last 14 days, so now is the best time to jump on him all season. The Brewers will send Adrian Houser to the mound today, who is coming off a start where he allowed five earned runs. He has hit .385 against Houser in his career with two home runs and six RBI. Goldy does hit for a better batting average against lefties, but he still has hit 19 of his 24 home runs this year against right-handed pitching.

Nick Castellanos, OF, CIN – This guy is rolling again as he has three straight two-hit games and four in the last six days leading to a .364 average in the last week. He will face southpaw Matthew Boyd who allowed two home runs in four innings his last time out in his first start back since the middle of June with a triceps injury. Castellanos has a double off of him in two at-bats but is hitting .313 against lefties with a .937 OPS. He homers once in every 15.5 at-bats against left-handed pitching as opposed to once in nearly every 20 at-bats against righties.

Trea Turner, SS, LAD – The power seems to have faded since going to the Dodgers, but Turner still has a hit in ten straight games and has hit .381 over the last week. He will face against Sammy Long who was awful his last time out allowing six earned runs over 4.2 innings and owns 5.63 ERA across five starts and ten total appearances this season. He has bounced in and out of the rotation and hasn’t fared all that well at either. Turner has not faced him, but his average is 100 points higher against left-handed pitching at .395, and his OPS against southpaws is an impressive 1.114.

Mid-Tier

Luis Robert, OF, CWS – It is such a shame that he missed such a huge chunk of the season, but it is great that he has been able to come back and play so well. He has hit .310 with three home runs and six RBI in the past 14 days. The Royals will throw Daniel Lynch today who has been improving of late but still has an ERA of near 4.50. Robert has hit .326 with a .928 OPS against left-handed pitching this season. He also homers at nearly double the rate against lefties than he does against right-handers.

Brendan Rodgers, 2B/SS, COL – He is still a bit on the inconsistent side, but it is nice to see Rodgers finally living up to the potential we were hoping for the last few years. He has five hits in the last three days including a double, a home run, and four RBI. The Braves are throwing Ian Anderson who is just one start back from a shoulder injury although he was good in that outing. The game is at Coors Field though, which we know is always conducive to crooked numbers going on the board and Rodgers has hit .301 there for the season.

Value Tier

Buster Posey, C, SF – He hasn’t been hitting well of late, but Posey against a lefty is nearly a sure thing. Even against the Dodgers Julio Urías, I would still give Posey a spot in my lineup. His price tag is pretty cheap, and he has six hits in just 15 at-bats (.400 average) with two doubles and an RBI against the southpaw. In general, he is hitting .356 with a 1.1015 OPS against left-handed pitching and at a difficult position to fill this seems like a great bet.

Andrew Vaughn, 1B/OF, CWS – Here is another inexpensive lefty special as Vaughn might be fading down the stretch but he still has a 1.018 OPS against left-handed pitching with eight of his 15 home runs against lefties despite 176 fewer plate appearances against them. I already went into why you can target Daniel Lynch comfortably and Vaughn does have an RBI double and a walk against him in three plate appearances.
